Pakistan: Ahmadis warned of ‘suicide hit’

RAW­ALPINDI - After four weeks of silence the ongoing propaganda aiming to evict the religious place of a minority, that is already confronting social boycott like situation in the country, raised its ugly head when hundreds of protesting seminary students forced the city administration to remove the security cameras from minority’s worship place.

On Friday, hundreds of seminary students under the banner of Action Committee took part in a sit-in that remained in session for well over two hours in front of the worship place of Ahmadi community near Holy Family Hospital. Abusive slogans and speeches meant to create hatred for the community were delivered by the Ulema, who were present there in the name of religion. Later, the protesters offered Asar prayers in front of the worship place where Commissioner Rawalpindi and other high officials of the city administration, besides heavy contingent of police force, were also deployed.

“In first phase we want the city administration to remove security cameras installed outside the worship place. In the second phase on next Friday we will offer Friday prayers here and force the administration to evict the worship place from here,” these were the demands put by the protesters on the occasion. Following the unjust demands, the city administration managed to engage an electrician who pulled off at least four security cameras amid full throat slogans “Al-Jehad, Al-Jehad and Qadyani Murdabad (Down with Qadyani’s)” raised by the charged protesters.

“In the name of dignity of Holy Prophet (PBUH), I am ready to attack the building with bombs on my body. By doing so I will be killed as a martyr, that is the dream of every true Muslim,” said Sharjil Mir, a local businessman and turncoat of PML-N and PPP, who is spearheading the campaign against Ahmadis for the past eight months under the banner of Action Committee.

Terming himself as “choice of God” to curtail “Qadyani Fitna” from the area, Mir standing on a cemented block placed in front of the worship place for security purpose said, “We are here to prove that Qadyanis are the real terrorists. Every Muslim should prepare for final war that is yet to be done,” Mir said.

On the occasion, Mir informed his audience that was mainly consisted of religious seminary students holding long sticks in their hands about “conspiracies” Ahmadi’s have been hatching since long against Pakistan and the Muslim world.

During their heated speeches Ulema belonging to Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Rawalpindi Chapter termed the removal of security cameras as first step towards great success.

“We will offer next Friday prayers as “Youm-e-Tashkur”, thanks day, on the same venue that is in front of worship place and till than if administration remained fail to evict Qadyanis from here, we will invade the house,” announced Maulana Mushtaq.

Earlier, on January 29 a number of activists of banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan and Jammat-ud-Dawa (JuD) have took part in a big protest gathering that was held 50 yards away from the worship place.

Action Committee, a forum comprising of representatives of local traders, Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat, local Ulema and so-called social activists, was constituted eight months ago to achieve one-point agenda that is the closure of “Awan-e-Tauheed”, sole worship place of Ahmadiyya community located in Block-E, Satellite Town.

A representative of administration of worship place wishing not be named termed the whole episode as unlawful and against the spirit of Constitution of Pakistan. “Security cameras were installed outside the building after the administration has asked us to do so. Cameras were removed in the presence of city administration that was supposed to protect them,” he lamented.

“Don’t they know such actions hurt the community across the world?” he questioned saying if something untoward occurred administration would be responsible for that. “Laws related to property protection provide us to defend our property but we did not retaliate.” He said Anjuman-e-Ahmadiyya Pakistan would be consulted in the backdrop of today’s event for future strategy.

 It was started in July 2011, when a local trader, ostensibly, as a result of the cultural implications of the laws and constitutional amendments regarding Ahmadis in the country, announced the presence of Ahmadis worship place in E-Block of Satellite Town and consequently their worship activities there as unconstitutional.
