Lunar eclipse 2011: Good news for Boston?
For those superstitious sports fans in Boston - of which there are many - the June 15th complete lunar eclipse could be viewed as a fortunate premonition of things to come.Tonight, the Boston Bruins play the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, just two hours after the Earth's shadow lifts from its only satellite.
Some Beantown residents might remember the same natural phenomenon occurred on October 27, 2004, the day that the Boston Red Sox won their first World Series since 1918.
More spectacular, the nights of Game 4 of the World Series and Game 7 of the Stanely Cup will feature a complete full moon, The Boston Globe's sports blog reminded readers today.
Could the year's first lunar eclipse mean the year's first championship for the city of Boston? We'll find out tonight. The game starts at 8 pm EST.
