UK: Diamond Jubilee | Manchester mosque celebrates

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association is holding its Jubilee gathering at the Darul Amaan Mosque in Hulme. The mosque will be covered in decorative lighting and flags, with a large banner congratulating the Queen.

Worshippers at a Manchester mosque are marking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with an invitation to residents to join their celebrations.

 The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association is holding its Jubilee gathering at the Darul Amaan Mosque in Hulme.

 The mosque will be covered in decorative lighting and flags, with a large banner congratulating the Queen.

 Visitors will be taken on a guided tour of the mosque during the celebrations from 14:30 BST to 19:00 BST.

 Elsewhere in Manchester the Big Lunch will see local people invited to the nation's biggest picnic to celebrate the Jubilee from 11:00 BST in Exchange Square.

 The BBC Big Screen in the square will also show The Thames Jubilee Pageant from 14:00 BST as well as the Diamond Jubilee Concert on Monday from 19:30 BST.

 On Monday, Manchester Cathedral will be one of 4,000 venues across the UK where a Jubilee beacon will be lit.
